Persian Cat Care Etiquette

Bringing home a Persian kitten is a joyful and rewarding experience, but it does come with a bit of a learning curve! Persians are known for their luxurious coats, gentle temperament, and expressive eyes. To keep them healthy and happy, it’s important to understand their unique needs.

Grooming Needs

Persians require daily grooming to prevent matting and maintain their signature silky coats. We recommend brushing your kitten at least once a day and scheduling regular baths to keep their fur clean and skin healthy. We recommend using Antibacterial and Antifungal Pet Shampoo because it is both medical and also very good for regular use.

Diet

We feed all of our kittens Royal Canin Persian dry food exclusively, as it’s specially designed to support their sensitive digestive systems, promote a healthy coat, and reduce hairballs. For wet food, we rotate high-quality options to give them variety, but always ensure that each selection provides a complete and balanced diet that meets their nutritional needs. We recommend continuing this routine at home for a smooth transition and optimal health.

Eyes & Face Cleaning

Due to their flat facial structure, Persian cats often have tear staining. Daily eye cleaning with a soft, damp cloth, or pet eye wipes helps keep them comfortable and looking their best.

Litter Box & Hygiene

We introduce our kittens to litter training early and use dust-free, unscented litter. Cleanliness is key for Persians, who are especially sensitive to odors and debris in their environment.

Litter Box & Hygiene

Persians are affectionate but quiet cats. They thrive in calm, loving homes where they receive regular attention and gentle interaction. They’re not typically climbers or high-energy, so a cozy perch and soft bed will keep them content.

Vet Care & Health

Each of our kittens receives age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming before going to their new home. Ongoing veterinary visits, including annual wellness checks and boosters, are essential to keeping your Persian happy, healthy, and thriving for years to come.
